Logan Wyse enters his third year at the helm of the Archbold girls tennis program when the Streaks open their season, Monday, Aug. 14, at Bryan.
Archbold lost four letterwinners from last year’s squad that finished 10-9. Wyse looks to two senior and two junior letterwinners to lead this year’s team.
Returning are Belle Clark and Malayna Stuckey, seniors, and Leah Miller and Amanda Payne, juniors.
“Our strength this season is the return of our four letterwinners,” said Wyse.
“Two are juniors who will be with us next year as well, and the two seniors saw a lot of playing time last year.
“We are again a young team. Last year we graduated four starters from our team, and we will look to our younger athletes to fill those roles this year.”
Newcomers are Maggie Henry, Isabella Ruiz, and Adriana Thompson, all freshmen.
“Our outlook for 2017 looks good,” said Wyse. “I hope we continue to have successful winning seasons moving forward as we have had the last four years.”
Wyse thinks the Streaks will be a top competitor in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.
“We are looking forward to the doubles tournaments we are entered in, and hope to continue to be a top team,” he said.
“The girls did well last year, and I see them excelling throughout this season.”
Archbold finished second at the Napoleon & Defiance doubles tournaments.
“The team has a strong desire to learn more and work hard to get better,” Wyse said.
