Four people were injured, and one was still in critical condition Monday, June 10, following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US 6 and St. Rt. 34 west of Ridgeville Corners.
The Henry County Sheriff Department report on the crash states a sport-utility vehicle, driven by Jack J. Higgins, 16, Perrysburg, with passenger Ashton M. Borgelt, 16, also of Perrysburg, was traveling east on St. Rt. 34 about 4:50 pm, Saturday, June 8.
The Higgins vehicle stopped at the intersection of the two highways, then drove into the intersection into the path of an SUV driven by Gregory C. Michael, 50, Ligonier, Ind., which was westbound on US 6 with passenger Lori Michael, age unavailable, same Ligonier address.
Higgins’ vehicle came to rest in the St. Rt. 6 roadway; Michael’s vehicle went off the south side of the road and struck trees and bushes.
Ridgeville Rescue and Archbold Rescue responded to the scene, along with two helicopter ambulances.
Archbold Rescue took Higgins and Borgelt to Toledo Children’s Hospital. Both were discharged.
Lori and Gregory Michael were both trapped in their vehicle and had to be freed by mechanical means.
Helicopter ambulances transported them to Toledo Hospital, where, as of Monday, Gregory Michael was listed in critical condition.
No information was available from Toledo Hospital regarding Lori Michael.
