Four Adults, Two Youth Caught In Park, Face Alcohol, Drug Charges

Archbold police officers issued summonses to appear in Western District Court to four adults and Juvenile Court to two juveniles after they were caught in Ruihley Park after hours, allegedly with alcohol and marijuana.

An Archbold police officer was patrolling on a bicycle about 2:35 am, Saturday, July 14, and observed two vehicles in the park. Ruihley Park is closed from midnight to 6 am.

The officer stated in his report, “As I rode up between the two vehicles, I observed two people standing in between the cars, and four people inside one car… I observed one subject throwing a beer can under the white unoccupied vehicle.”

The officer recovered the can, which was one-quarter full of beer “and still cold to the touch.

“As I got between the vehicles, I detected a very strong odor of marijuana coming from the occupied vehicle, and a cloud of smoke coming from the vehicle’s open window,” the officer said.

The officer called for backup. In addition to a second Archbold officer, Wauseon police sent two officers and a police dog.

The Archbold officer ordered everyone out of the vehicle.

While getting people out of the car, he observed “a small bag of marijuana in the driver side rear seat on the floor,” and observed the remainder of a marijuana cigarette, known in the drug world as a “roach,” on the floor between the driver seat and door.

Summonses were issued to:

•Avante Koonce, 19, Wauseon; cited for criminal trespassing, consuming alcoholic beverages under the legal age limit, contributing to the unruliness of a minor, and possession of marijuana.

•Adrianna Martinez, 18, Wauseon; cited for criminal trespassing, contributing to the unruliness of a minor, and possession of marijuana.

•Nick McCall, 19, Wauseon; cited for criminal trespassing, contributing to the unruliness of a minor, and consuming alcoholic beverages under the legal age limit.
