Fortier In CCNO After Contacting Woman

Joel Fortier, 41, Napoleon, is being held at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio after Archbold police charged him with violation of a protection order on Monday, Sept. 7.

The victim, Melissa A. Grime, 44, Archbold, told police that between 7:56-9:34 am, Sunday, Sept. 6, Fortier allegedly attempted to contact her via text message and emails.

Charges were filed in Western District Court on Monday, Sept 7.

Fortier was indicted by Fulton County grand juries in April and May, each on one count of menacing by stalking, a fourth degree felony.

Paul H. Kennedy, assistant Fulton County prosecuting attorney, filed a request with Fulton County Common Pleas court to revoke Fortier’s own-recognizance bond on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The following day, the court issued a warrant for Fortier’s arrest.

The warrant was issued on Wednesday, Sept. 9. That same day, he was arrested and taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, where, as of Monday morning, Sept. 14, he was still in custody.

A $10,000 cash bond has been set on the violation-of-a-protection-order charge.

But Scott Haselman, Fulton County prosecuting attorney, said he is being held without bond on the felony charges.

A pre-trial hearing on the felony charges is Thursday, Oct. 1, 2 pm.
