Former County Employee Indicted On Theft In Office Charge




Fred L. Allen, 61, Wauseon, a former employee of the Fulton County Auditor office, has been indicted on charges of theft in office and tampering with records.

A press release from Scott Haselman, Fulton County prosecuting attorney, states Allen was indicted, “on one count of theft in office, and one count, tampering with records.

“On or about January 12, 2012 to February 6, 2014, he allegedly, being a public official, stole property or services owned by a county.

“He also allegedly tampered with records belonging to a government entity.”

Vond Hall, Fulton County administrator, confirmed that Allen was a Fulton County employee.

“He worked for the auditor in weights and measures,” Hall said.

He did not know what dates Allen was employed by Fulton County.

Allen is also a member of the Wauseon City Council, and an assistant chief of the Wauseon Fire Department.

In a statement released Wednesday, June 25, Rick Sluder, Wauseon Fire Department chief, said Allen, “has taken an administrative leave from the Wauseon Fire Department.

“Mr Allen also remains a member of Wauseon City Council.

“No further comment at this time,” Sluder said.

The Fulton County Grand Jury met on Monday, June 23, and handed down indictments against nine individuals, including Allen.–posted 4:37 pm Wednesday, 6.25
