Five Sentenced




Three people were sentenced in Fulton County Common Pleas Court, Monday, Feb. 27:

•Rachel Hammond, 27, Wauseon; originally indicted Sept. 19, 2016, on eight counts, tampering with records, and one count, grand theft; pled guilty to grand theft in December; between June 14, 2012, and March 31, 2016, she falsified applications to receive food stamps and Medicaid benefits; placed on four years community control; ordered to pay $24,402.49 restitution to the Department of Job & Family Services, be assessed for mental health treatment and successfully complete all aftercare. Failure to abide by conditions could result in a 12-month prison sentence.

Cecilia Williams, 36, Fayette; originally indicted Sept. 19, 2016, on charges of theft, workers’ compensation fraud; entered guilty plea in December to workers’ compensation fraud; between March 27-July 17, 2014, received benefits to which she was not entitled; sentenced to three days at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, credit for time served; placed on two years community control; ordered to pay $6,657.16 restitution to Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, complete theft education course. Failure to comply could result in seven-month prison sentence.

•Diamond Darrington, 26, Toledo; originally indicted June 20, 2016, on receiving stolen property, possessing criminal tools; guilty plea to receiving stolen property entered in December; on or about March 25, 2016, Darrington received property valued at more than $1,000 but less than $7,500, knowing or having reasonable cause to believe it had been stolen; sentenced to 11 months in prison; ordered to pay any fees and all prosecution costs.

A Chicago, Ill., man was sentenced Wednesday, March 15, on a drug-related charge in Fulton County Common Pleas Court:

•Jimmy Pearson, 52; previously pled guilty to attempted trafficking in drugs; on Jan. 22, 2016, attempted to transport promethazine-codeine cough syrup, which contains the opiate drug codeine; sentenced to 10 months in prison; ordered to pay cost of prosecution.

A Wauseon man was sentenced Friday, March 17, in Fulton County Common Pleas Court:

James Miller, 35; originally indicted Sept. 19, 2016, on one count, workers’ compensation fraud; entered guilty plea to attempted workers’ compensation fraud; between March 27-July 17, 2014, attempted to defraud workers’ compensation of benefits to which he was not entitled; sentenced to 180 days at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, jail sentence suspended, placed on one year community control; ordered to pay cost of prosecution, $100 fine, $6,657.16 restitution to Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Failure to comply could result in a 180-day jail sentence at CCNO.
