Five Return For AHS Girls Tennis

Five letterwinners return for Logan Wyse, who is entering his seventh year as Archbold girls tennis coach.

Back are senior three-year letterwinners Mya Stuckey, Sophie Schramm, Katie Rose, and Abbie Short, and Aubri Delaney, a sophomore and one-year letterwinner.

Schramm was a district qualifier in 2020.

Lost to graduation were Maggie Henry, a four-year letterwinner, and Adriana Thompson, a three-year letterwinner.

“This season there are 15 athletes on the team, the most I have ever coached,” said Wyse. “This provides our team with some depth.

“There are many newcomers, but they are catching on very quickly.

“We will rely very heavily on the returning players to help guide us this year. I think we will see multiple people rotate around on the varsity list from week to week.

“I look forward to this team working and learning together as the season moves on.

“Sara Lovejoy is the new assistant coach this year. She graduated from AHS in 2019 and was a three-year letterwinner.”

AHS 5, Van Wert 0

The Streaks opened their season with a 5-0 win over Van Wert, Saturday, Aug. 7, at AHS.

“I’m very proud of the team today,” said Wyse. “Our team put in a lot of fight to win three three-set matches.

“This was a very close and very tough match.”
