Five Letterwinners Back For PHS Volleyball

The Pettisville volleyball team returns five senior letterwinners from a team that finished 17-7 last season, and fell in the district semifinal to Holgate.

John Horning starts his 13th season at the helm of the Birds as the team opens its season, Monday, Aug. 19, at Holgate.

Back are seniors Danielle King, Ryeanna Klopfenstein, Mikayla Graber, Megan King, and Anneli Shaw.

“Our group is hard-working and have a desire to improve every day,” said Horning, “but we have players in new positions at the varsity level.

“We want to improve every day and take the season one match at a time,” said Horning. “We should be competitive in all our matches, and hope to be playing our best ball at the end of the season.

Lost to graduation were Buckeye Border Conference and District 7 Player of the Year Morgan Leppelmeier, First Team All-BBC member Mauricea Crouch, and Bekah Holsopple.

“I think our league will be competitive, and I hope we bring our best effort every night.”

Assisting Horning with coaching duties are Rachel Horning and April Beck, junior varsity coach.
