Pettisville FFA recently competed in the agriculture engineering and grain merchandising Career Development Events (CDEs).

FFA CDEs are an extension of the local agricultural education classroom and serve as authentic applications of the curriculum in which students are instructed.

The ag engineering team placed third in the state and second in our district, with Josiah Hoops placing second and Nathan Spotts, eighth, in the state.

Ag engineering covers diesel fuel system parts, hydraulic system parts, industry and marketing systems, energy systems and problem solving.

The grain merchandising team placed 20th in the state, with Trisha Cousino having the best score for Pettisville.

Grain merchandising deals with the complex decisionmaking process associated with merchandising agricultural products.

Concepts include supply and demand, delayed pricing, hedging, forward contracting and the Board of Trades.–Mikayla Crouch, reporter
