The Pettisville FFA chapter was active during the Christmas season to help make sure no child in Fulton County went without a toy or food for Christmas.

Ten members volunteered their time to hold signs to get donations for Fulton County Toys for Cheer, Friday, Nov. 20.

Several members volunteered at the Fulton County Junior Fair building to help with the organization of the toys and food, Monday, Dec. 7.

In addition, the Pettisville FFA is working to fight hunger by planning to bag macaroni and cheese meals. The meals will be packed on May 9, and most, if not all, of the meals will go to local food banks in Fulton County.

The FFA plans to involve the whole school. The goal is to raise $15,000 and pack 60,000 meals.

The ingredients and the equipment will be provided by Meals of Hope, a national organization. The senior ag class is currently applying for grants.

FFA members are also researching issues related to hunger and will present them to the school on the Hope for Hunger Day to teach the school more about the issue of world hunger.

Matthew Krill, Justin Nofziger, Andrew Sauder, Jacob Dennis, Gretchen Lee, Lynnsey Crouch and Jordan Skates participated in the county Parliamentary Procedure Contest. They placed second in the county and moved on to district competition, where they placed eighth.

They took a test to demonstrate their knowledge on parliamentary law and performed a mock meeting to demonstrate how to use various parliamentary abilities.

By studying parliamentary procedure, they gained an important skill that they can use in their future lives and careers to run meetings effectively.–Jacob Dennis, reporter
