Family Justice Center Deserves Support

Living in a rural community offers many charms, but at the same time, many challenges.

A person who finds himself in need of a specific service not offered locally can face long drives to faraway places. If a person doesn’t have ready access to a car, the service is simply denied to them, no matter how great the need.

The Fulton County Family Justice Center provides valuable and important services to persons who desperately need the service. Its clients include victims of violent crime, including domestic violence. Such victims often need help immediately, not an hour, or two, or five hours later. Without the Wauseon center, the nearest facilities are in Defiance or Toledo. For some, that might as well be on the moon.

For whatever reason, the center has lost the grant money it has relied on for more than a decade to keep the doors open. There might be some money available in the future, but right now, there’s enough left for January.

Now is the time for county churches, organizations, individuals, and service clubs to step up and fill the void. The need is large, but not unmanageable.

Shouldn’t we come together to maintain this valuable asset?
