Fair Sets Three New Attendance Records




The Fulton County Fair set new attendance records on three out of its first four days, according to the fair board.

Records were set on Friday, Aug. 31, Saturday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 3. Total attendance for the first four days cracked the 200,000 mark, when 201,313 passed through the turnstiles.

On Friday, fair board officials said 26,821 passed through the gates, up 4,227, or about 18.7%, from last year’s 22,594.

The previous Friday attendance record was set in 2002, when 24,537 people visited the fairgrounds. The new Friday record tops that mark by 2,284, or about 9.3%.

Saturday attendance of 58,321 topped the 2006 mark of 46,901 by 11,420, or about 24.4%.

The old Saturday record was set in 2005, when the fair attracted 55,178 visitors. The 2007 Saturday figure topped the 2005 mark by 3,143, or about 5.7%.

The 2006 Sunday record remains the all-time one-day Fulton County Fair attendance record, at 62,743.

This year, a total of 57,106 people passed through the gates, which was 5,637, or about 9% less than the year before.

Monday attendance was 59,065, which was 54,651, or about 8.6% more than last year’s Labor Day, which was 54,414. The 2006 Monday total was the record for that day.
