ARCHBOLD WEATHER

Fair Attendance At Or Above Average

Dennis Wyse, Fulton County Fair Board president, said Monday attendance at the Fulton County Fair was “right at average, or a little above.

“As long as we can keep the weather nice,” he said.

The Archbold wastewater treatment plant recorded high temperatures between 74 and 84 degrees for the first four days of the fair. A brief rainstorm hit late Monday afternoon.

Wyse said one thing that impacts Friday attendance numbers is football.

Archbold and Wauseon both had home football games Friday night. When there are big home football games, fair attendance is down.

Truck pulls, held Friday night, did a little better than average, Wyse said.

“If I were going to guess, Sunday would be our best day,” he said.

Wyse said things were going smoothly.

“I talked to the sheriff (Roy Miller) at six o’clock Monday morning, and he said he’s ‘almost scared’ that the fair is running so smoothly,” Wyse said.

“It went flawlessly. We get past (Monday), the worst is over.”

On Monday afternoon, Wyse said he walked through the midway, “and it’s packed.

“Which is what we want.”
