Elizabeth M. “Betty” Nofziger, age 92 years, of Wauseon, passed from this life into eternity, late Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon.
She was born April 12, 1921, near Archbold, the daughter of Otto and Cora (Vonier) Leininger.
She married Harold S. Nofziger on March 30, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1993.
A lifelong resident of the Pettisville/Wauseon area, she worked at the former Wire Factory.
She with her husband, owned and operated the Steak House in Wauseon for 19 years, retiring in 1981. Many people still talk about her swiss steak, potato soup and lemon pie.
She was a member of the Pettisville Missionary Church, American Legion and VFW both of Wauseon.
She is survived by six children, Barbara (James) Short of Archbold, Connie Nofziger and Becky (Jerry) Mahnke, both of Wauseon, Patty Gisel and Timothy Nofziger, both of Archbold, and Lisa Nofziger of Wauseon; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Kathryn Aschliman of Michigan, Joan (Harlan) Lawrence of Wauseon, and Luanna Haskell of Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Gene Nofziger; a brother, Orville Leininger; and four sisters, Margaret Smith, Helen Graber, Hazel Weber, and Pauline Webb.
Services were held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Pettisville Missionary Church with Pastors Tim Steiner and Drew Moseley officiating. Interment followed in the Pettisville Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
