Election Deadline Approaches

Brett Kolb, director of the Fulton County Board of Elections, said the filing deadline for the Nov. 4 General Election is approaching.

Deadline is Thursday, Aug. 21, at 4 pm.

Kathy Meyer, deputy director of the Board of Elections, said Aug. 21 is also the filing date for non-partisan candidates for certain offices, but none of the offices are in Fulton County.

Persons who wish to register to vote in the general election have until Monday, Oct. 6, to file paperwork. To qualify, a person must be 18 by Election Day and a U.S. citizen.

A person must have lived in the state 30 days prior to Election Day. If a person has moved within a precinct, or from one precinct to another, they may vote provisionally.

Kolb said absentee ballots will be available no later than Sept. 30.

“We hope they will be ready prior to that,” he said.
