Eleanor Engler, age 86, died March 21, 2016, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus.
Eleanor was born on Aug. 13, 1929, in Dover, Ohio, to the late W. Ray and Margeret (Renkert) Stucky.
She married William Engler in 1951, and he preceded her in death in 1974.
Eleanor was a graduate of Dover High School, Capital University, and Bowling Green State University. She was a music and reading teacher at Edgerton, Ridgeville Corners, and Archbold and retired in 1990 after 37 years.
She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners.
For more than 30 years she directed youth and senior choirs. She also taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, held several offices for the WELCA and the Ladies Aid, and served as an elder on the church council.
She was also a member of the Henry County Retired Teachers Association.
Eleanor is survived by a daughter, Christine (Mike) Cline; a son, John (Christine) Engler; six grandchildren, Heather, Tabitha and Alex Cline, Laura (Jason) Gonder, Erin (Marc) Pupillo, Michael (Anna Shamshura) Engler; and a great-granddaughter, Emilia Pupillo.
She was preceded in death by her brother George, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., tomorrow, Thursday, March 24, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, March 23, from 4-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and one hour prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Margaret & Lucille Sherman Foundation, or charity of the donor’s choice.
