Paul Bishop, has spent 12 years at the helm of the Pettisville baseball team, and will turn to eight returning letterwinners to lead the Blackbirds this season.
The Birds finished 10-9 last year and won the Buckeye Border Conference with an 8-2 record.
“Pitching depth and experience will be a challenge for us this year,” said Bishop.
With four lettermen lost to graduation, all of whom pitched, “We lost 67% of our innings pitched from last year,” he said.
“With all the players returning, it is youthful experience as we will be starting four to five freshmen and sophomores.
“But we have very good team unity.”
Christian Barhite (Second team All-BBC) and Evan King are the returning seniors.
Returning juniors are Nate Hartzler, Eli Norr, and John Rufenacht.
Sophomores back are Dillon King (honorable mention All-BBC); Landon Roth (honorable mention All-BBC); and Justin Rupp.
“We look to compete in every game. We look to get better and better as the year progresses as our young players mature, and we want to have a chance to repeat as league champs,” said Bishop.
