Earns Scholarship

Laura Bruner, a 2005 Pettisville High School graduate, has been awarded a $3,000 undergraduate Ohio agricultural science and bioproducts research scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Bruner, daughter of Dan and Jo, rural Wauseon, is majoring in plant health management at The Ohio State University. She will be a junior in the fall.

She is a member of Alpha Zeta agricultural honors society, and has served as vice president and president of the plant health and resource management forum at OSU.

Bruner was the OSU College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences top scholar in 2006, and won third place at the International Science Fair in the area of horticulture science.

Bruner is interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in plant pathology with an emphasis on genetics and molecular biology.

The scholarships were awarded on a competitive basis to full-time students enrolled in an Ohio college or university who demonstrated a desire to pursue a career focused on the application of science and technology to agriculture.
