Donald E. Kruse

Donald E. Kruse, age 78, of Freedom Township, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at the Golden Living Center, Northcrest in Napoleon.

He was born on Feb. 24, 1929 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late John and Martha (Homan) Kruse. On Nov. 12, 1950 he married Christine Rohrs, and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2003.

Donald was a lifelong farmer and also worked many years at Ann Furniture, where he retired in 1994, and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Freedom Township and a member of the V.F.W. Post 8218 and Am Vets Post 1313, both of Napoleon, and was a past commander of American Legion Post 454 in Ridgeville Corners.

He is survived by daughters, Elaine (Bill) Leininger of Archbold, Karen (Dan) Hall of Leesburg, Ind., and Linda (Tim) Norden of Defiance; son Ronald (Nancy) Kruse of Napoleon; and seven grandchildren: one great-granddaughter.

Services were held on Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church (Freedom Township) with the Rev. Stephen Niermann, officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Military honors were accorded by the Joint Veteran Posts of Napoleon.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Ridgeville Corners Fire Department or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements were entrusted to Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.
