Dominique Rejoins ADAMhs Board

After a one-year break, Susan Dominique, Archbold, has returned to a seat on the Four County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMhs).

Dominique served for eight years, from 1998 to 2006, as an appointee of the Fulton County Commissioners. She returned to the board at its Thursday, Sept. 13 meeting, as an appointee of the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. She will serve a fouryear term.

When asked about her return, she said, “In serving the eight years I did, I became increasingly aware of the number of services provided by the ADAMhs Board, through various agencies.

“There are many people who are entitled to, or eligible for ADAMhs Boards services, who, because of a lack of understanding and awareness, aren’t getting them.

“Helping to increase public awareness of available services has been one of my primary goals in serving on the board,” she said.

With little increase in financial resources, the board, along with the cooperation between its agencies, is assisting more and more people, she said.

She said she wants to provide good stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Also joining the board was Scott Acus, of Bryan, who was appointed to a four-year term by the Ohio Department of Mental Health.

During the meeting, Les Me- Caslin, chief executive officer of the ADAMhs board, said the board finished the fiscal year under budget for use of the state psychiatric hospital, and the first year in memory when medication expenditures were under budget and less than the board spent the previous year.

The board will host its second annual Celebrating Recovery! luncheon for persons with mental illness and their families, 11:30 am, Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Ruihley Park Pavilion, in Archbold.

Next regular meeting of the board is 5:30 pm, Thursday, Nov. 8, at the board offices south of Archbold, on St. Rt. 66.
