A dog running loose perhaps unwittingly caused its own capture, Saturday, Feb. 23.
The report on the incident states two officers spent about an hour trying, but were unable, to capture the dog, described as a tan boxer mix later identified as “Duke.”
However, Michelle Rodger, 224 Linda Court, called later and reported Duke had jumped into her vehicle.
Police had Rodger drive Duke to the Archbold Police station, where it was taken into custody. It was then taken to the village kennel at the Archbold Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Duke was wearing a tag from a local veterinarian. Police used information on the tag to contact Duke’s owner, who picked the dog up.
Police have marked Duke’s case as closed.
