PHS Girls Wins 4x800; AHS Boys Win 4x200, 4x400; King Wins 800

Archbold and Pettisville have four champions at the Div. III Regional Track & Field Meet in Tiffin, Wednesday, May 26 and Friday, May 28.

The Pettisville girls 4×800-meter relay team (Brady Avina, Tanner Hostetler, Tessa Yoder, Samantha Shinhearl) won on Wednesday.

The Birds ran the race in 9:49.75, a school record.

Also setting Pettisville school records were the girls 4×400 team (Avina, Hostetler, Rachel Beck, Shinhearl), 4:12.37, and Lincoln Frey in the pole vault (13-0.)

The Archbold boys 4×200 (Desmond Sleigh, Danny Young, Hayden Stamm, Nate Hammersmith) and 4×400 (Noah Keefer, Young, Hammersmith, Stamm) won, as did Trisha King in the 800.

Others qualifying for the state meet:

   AHS: Desmond Sleigh finished third in the long jump; Autumn Lantz finished third in the 100; Hammersmith finished third in the 200; Danny Young finished second in the 300 hurdles.

   PHS: Samantha Shinhearl finished third in the 1600; the girls 4×400 (Avina, Hostetler, Rachel Beck, Shinhearl) finished fourth; Stephanie Yoder finished fourth in the pole vault; Lincoln Frey finished fourth in the 800.

The top four finishers in each event qualify for state.

The Blue Streak boys finished second as a team with 54 points. Liberty Benton won the boys meet with 61.

Pettisville finished ninth and Archbold, 12th, in the girls meet.–Updated 5.28, 8:50 pm
