District, League Basketball Awards

Frank Receives Several Coach of Year Awards

Austin Wiemken, a 6- 4 senior on the Archbold boys basketball team, has been named First Team All- Northwest District in Division III by the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association.

Wiemken averaged 15.8 points per game.

Jeron Williams was named to the second team.

Rigo Ramos and Elijah Zimmerman received honorable mentions.

Joe Frank, first-year AHS head coach, was named Co- Coach of the Year with Collins Western Reserve’s Chris Sheldon.

In Div. IV, Pettisville’s Detric Yoder was named to the third team and Graeme Jacoby received an honorable mention.

Chase Glock, Stryker, was named to the first team. Logan Boetz, Stryker, and Trey Keefer, Fayette, received honorable mentions.

In girls Div. IV, Pettisville’s Morgan Leppelmeier was named First Team All- Northwest District.

Stryker’s Emma Grime was named to the second team and Brittany Haines was named to the third team.

Courtney Stewart, Stryker, and Trista Fruchey, Fayette, received honorable mentions.

Steve Brown, Stryker, was named Co-Coach of the Year.

In girls Div. III, Lily Krieger, Archbold, was named Third Team-All Northwest District. Andi Peterson received an honorable mention.

District 7

Frank was named the District 7 Coach of the Year for the 2018-19 season.

Wiemken and Williams were named First Team All- District. Ramos was named to the second team; Zimmerman and AJ Mahnke received honorable mentions.

In Div. IV, Yoder and Glock were named First Team All-District.

Graeme Jacoby, Pettisville; Keefer, and Boetz were named to the second team. Receiving honorable mentions were Canidate Vickery, Sam Rychener, and Logan Rufenacht, Pettisville; Clayton Pheils and Porter Maginn, Fayette; and Luke Holsopple, Stryker.

In girls basketball, Krieger was named First Team All- District in Div. III. Peterson was named to the second team, and Gabby Nafziger received an honorable mention.

In Div. IV, Leppelmeier was named District 7 Player of the Year. Joining her on the first team were Grime and Haines.

Stewart and Fruchey, Fayette, were named to the second team.

Receiving honorable mentions were Brandi Schnitkey and Elizabeth Beck, Pettisville, and Mataya Rufenacht, Fayette.

Brown was named the Div. IV District 7 Coach of the Year.

NWOAL

Williams and Wiemken were named First Team All- Northwest Ohio Athletic League in boys basketball. Ramos was named to the second team, while Zimmerman and Mahnke received honor- able mentions.

Wauseon’s Levi Seiler was named the NWOAL Player of the Year.

Frank was named Coach of the Year.

In girls basketball, Krieger was named First Team All- NWOAL, while Peterson were named to the second team.

Addison Moyer and Nafziger received honorable mentions.

Delta’s Abby Freeman was named NWOAL Player of the Year, and Ryan Ripke, Delta, was the NWOAL Coach of the Year.

BBC

Yoder, Jacoby, Boetz, Keefer, and Pheils were named First Team All-Buckeye Border Conference in boys basketball.

Glock was the BBC Player of the Year.

Rychener and Holsopple were second team selections.

Rufenacht, Maginn, and Izayah Ferguson, Stryker, received honorable mentions.

In girls basketball, Leppelmeier was named the BBC Player of the Year for the second straight year.

Joining her on the first team were Grime and Haines, Stryker, and Fruchey, Fayette.

Schnitkey was named Second Team All-BBC along with Stewart, Stryker.

Receiving honorable mentions were Beck and Mikayla Graber, Pettisville; Anna Stuckey, Stryker; Rufenacht and Rhys Ruger, Fayette.
