Demolition For New Circle K To Start In November?

Demolition of the buildings on the southwest corner of the North Defiance Street- Stryker Street intersection could start around mid-November.

That’s what Aaron Alt, planning director for the village of Archbold, said in a recent email to this newspaper.

Circle K officials are planning to construct a new convenience store and gas station on the corner.

Alt said village officials attended a preconstruction meeting with the Circle K construction team and American Trademark Construction Services, the general contractor for the project.

“At this point, it is our understanding the store will remain open until the end of the month.”

The company is purchasing the former Rupp Furniture building on the southwest side of the corner, what is known locally as the former Vernier-Probeck building.

Alt said the target closing date for the sale is around Nov. 2.

“Once closing is final, the construction team will begin their prep work to ready the site for demolition, which may take up to two weeks before any demolition occurs,” Alt said.
