Matt Gerig, Delta, was selected to receive a $100 cash reward from the Fulton County Crime Stopper Program.
In a Friday, Oct 17, press release, the Crime Stopper board reported Gerig was working as pharmacist at Yoder Family Pharmacy, Wauseon, on Oct. 13, 2007, when Donald Heising, Sr., entered the store.
Heising was wearing a ski mask and demanded drugs.
Gerig tackled Heising, wrestled him to the floor, and secured him while waiting for police to arrive. Heising had a firearm in his possession.
Heising was arrested, prosecuted, and convicted of robbery, having weapons while under disability, and theft of drugs. He is currently serving an eight-year prison term.
