Delmar D. Beck

Delmar D. Beck, age 94 years, of Archbold, passed away early Tuesday morning, Aug. 31, 2010, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.

He was born Nov. 9, 1915, near Archbold, a son of Joseph and Amanda (Baer) Beck.

He married Berneda Wyse in February 1937 and she preceded him in death in May 1979. He married Violet Roth in 1980 and she preceded him in death in 1982. He then married Darlene Beach Borton on Jan. 8, 1983.

A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he was a farmer and worked for Lugbill Livestock Auction about 40 years. He did volunteer work with Mennonite Disaster Service, and Meals on Wheels in Florida.

He was a member of the Archbold Evangelical Church.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; three children, Curt (Leta) Beck of Camden, Mich., Keith (Pat) Beck of Columbus, and Andrea (John) Schaffer of Blair, Neb.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Beck of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Beck; one brother Val Beck; four sisters, Lois Beck, Erma Rufenacht, Marjorie Short, and Arlene “Becky” Gasche.

Services were held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Fairlawn Chapel with Chaplain Charles Gautsche officiating. Interment followed in the Lockport Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Defiance Area Youth for Christ.
