Defiance Wins Div. II State Baseball Title

Defiance, which finished number one in the final Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Division II poll, won its second state championship in school history, Saturday, June 8.

The Bulldogs defeated Plain City Jonathan Alder 8-2 in the state final.

The Bulldogs (31-1) were the only top-ranked team in Ohio to win a 2013 state title. They last won the state title in 1992.

To get to the final, Defi- ance defeated Akron Archbishop

Hoban 5-1 in their semifinal.


Tinora fell to New Middletown Springfield 13-7 in the Div. IV state semifinal.

The Rams finished the season with a 19-8 record.
