Danielle Frey Clinches Kart Points Title Sat.




Danielle Frey, Pettisville, clinched her second-in-a-row points title in the econo senior class at the kart racing track at Jackson, Mich., Saturday, Oct. 6.

She won the class feature, giving her enough points to wrap-up the title. She qualified second fastest, and was second in her heat.

Vance Nofziger, Pandora- Gilboa, formerly of Archbold, was qualified third fastest, was third in the heat, and third in the feature.

He was followed by Tyler Herschberger, 12, Pettisville, who was fourth fastest, and fourth in the heat and the feature.

Frey’s results brings three Jackson points championships back to the Archbold Area. Jeremy Mann, 11, Archbold, won the junior econo class championship, and John Huffman, veteran Archbold kart racer, locked up his fourth points championship in a row in stock heavy.

Huffman also won the season points championship at Fremont, in the super-heavy (stock 400) class.

He has brought home the championship from Fremont in seven of the last eight years.

Dirt Track Racers

Kyle DeKinght, 12, Pettisville, was second junior restricted class feature at the dirt oval at Edon Saturday, during the track’s “Buckeye Nationals” event.

Kyle Beck 12, Pettisville, was eighth in the class feature.

On the dirt at Jackson, Graeme Short, 9, was third in his 250 cubic-centimeter restricted mini-sprint feature.

He was the fifth-fastest qualifier, and finished his heat race in fourth.

Archbold

The Archbold kart race, rained out earlier this summer, will be run at the Terry Henricks Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep auto dealership parking lot Sunday, Oct. 14.

Racing begins at 1 pm.

Huffman said a large turnout of talented local racers and outof town “hot shoes” are planning to attend.

“This is our Indy 500,” Huffman said.

“It’s our hometown crowd, there’s nice prize money, and trophies,” he said.
