Dale E Hayward, age 61, of Delta, passed away after a long, courageous battle with MS, on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, with his wife, Jean, by his side.
Prior to his disability, Mr. Hayward had been a welder for the former Harmon Sign Company in Wauseon.
Dale was born in Fulton County on Aug. 24, 1948, the son of the late Robert and Florence (Garman) Hayward, who survives.
On May 22, 1971, he married Jean Riegsecker, and she survives.
An Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War, he was also a member of the Wauseon Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Wauseon American Legion Post.
Surviving besides his wife, Jean, and mother, Florence Hayward of Wauseon, are son Chad Dale (Christine) Hayward of Wauseon; daughter Terra Jean (Richard Berry) of Wauseon; grandchildren Damien Robert Hayward, Dillon Jacob Hayward, Cale Paul Meeker, Jadon Dale Meeker, Aslinn Jean Meeker, Lorali Marie Berry; twin sisters Bonnie (Marty) Lopez of Delta, Connie (Jim) Baldwin of Wauseon; sister-in-law Sharon Hayward of Bryan; and special family friend Greg Grieder.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Robert Hayward, and a brother, Daryl D Hayward.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Fairlawn Haven Chapel in Archbold, with Pastor Charles Gautsche, officiating. Interment will follow in the Winameg Cemetery, near Delta.
Friends may call in the Fairlawn Haven Chapel on Thursday from 2 until 8 p.m.
