Breaking News: Garage Sale Correction

Crime Stopper

The Fulton County Crime Stopper seeks help to solve the theft of 105,000 pounds of plastic chips.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for information about this crime.

Jason Simon, Fayette police chief, said the material was taken from JCIM, Inc., the Plastech facility in Fayette, after Plastech filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Simon said there were 74 total boxes of “000001216 Polypropylene Talc-filled material.”

He said the chips are smaller than a BB. They’re contained in boxes five feet tall and four to five feet across. Each box is labeled “TPP1C40BK.”

“It’s a specific material for a certain job.

“It would have taken three semi trucks to get them out,” he said.

“They wouldn’t just have walked off,” he said.

During the changeover from Plastech to JCIM, Simon said there were semis in and out of the facility all the time, as equipment was moved in and out.

The total value of the missing material is about $46,200.
