The theft of a small hydraulic excavator from a property in the rural Archbold area was the Fulton County Crime Stopper Crime of the Month for April.
A Bobcat model 442 was taken from a property owned by Jaren Stoner, 24890 Co. Rd. F.
Aaron Gladieux, Fulton County sheriff deputy, said at 2:52 am, Monday, March 13, a video surveillance camera caught an image of the excavator lights coming on. It was apparently driven across a field to a waiting truck, then hauled away.
The machine has the name “Macchiavello Construction” painted on its arm and the back, and is valued at $35,000.
Gladieux said stolen equipment is usually resold; thieves do not take time to break it up for parts. One machine stolen from Fulton County was recovered in Indiana, he said.
The theft is still an open, pending investigation, he said.
Fulton County Crime Stopper also seeks help in solving the theft of a piece of equipment.
Stolen from a residence in the 4000 block of Co. Rd. 2 in the Swanton area was a breaker, a hydraulic device that attaches to a skid-steer loader. It is used to break up concrete. The attachment was taken sometime between March 7-10. Value: $9,980.
