Crashes Reported To OSHP, Sheriff




Several reports of vehicle crashes in the area were filed by the Fulton County Sheriff Department:

•Wednesday, Feb. 11, 12:38 pm: A truck pulling a trailer, driven by Joshua D. Kruse, 37, rural Archbold, was traveling north on Co. Rd. F, and attempted to turn into a private drive in the 2300 block. The truck slid on the icy road and struck a pole; no injury.

•Thursday, Feb. 12, 12:33 pm: A car, driven by Stephanie A. French, 28, Maumee, was traveling north on Co. Rd. 19. A minivan, driven by Thomas Edward Rains, 49, rural Wauseon, was traveling west on Co. Rd. J. French attempted to stop for the stop sign at the intersection, but slid on the snowy road and collided with the minivan. Rains was taken to FCHC by ALS-1, the Archboldbased paramedic unit, where he was treated and released. French was cited for failure to stop for a stop sign.

•Thursday, Feb. 12, 1:47 pm: A car, driven by Stacy M. Mackenzie, 23, Pettisville, was traveling east on Co. Rd. F. She applied the brakes at the intersection of Co. Rd. 16; the vehicle slid on the icy road and went through a snow pile at the southwest corner of the intersection. No injury.

•Saturday, Feb. 14, 11:32 am: A pickup, driven by Alexander J. Bernath, 26, rural Stryker, was traveling west and was stopped in traffic on US20A in the 24000 block. The pickup was struck from behind by a second pickup, driven by Barry L. Short, 52, rural Wauseon. The Short pickup then struck a third, eastbound pickup, driven by Daniel M. Davis, 26, rural Liberty Center, which was also stopped in traffic. Report notes there was ice on the road, and heavy, blowing snow was limiting visibility (“white out”). No injuries.

•Saturday, Feb. 14, 11:48 am: An ambulance owned by the Fulton County commissioners, driven by Richard A. Buehrer, 80, Fayette, was traveling west on US20, responding to an emergency call with its lights and siren activated. Traveling east on the highway was a car driven by Thomas J. Ehman, 19, Fayette. Ehman attempted to slow down to yield to the ambulance, but the car went out of control and struck the ambulance. Road conditions: snow. Buehrer was not injured; Ehman suffered possible injuries, but was not taken to a hospital. Bradley A. Knierim, 25, rural Fayette, was a passenger in the ambulance, but was not injured. Chris Stillion, 29, Fayette, and Jena Myers, 18, rural Fayette, were passengers in the ambulance; they were taken by private vehicle to the Fulton County Health Center, where they were treated and released. Ehman was cited for failure to control.

•Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2:58 pm: A car, driven by Edward D. Baus, 97, Archbold, was traveling west on Co. Rd. B, stopped for the stop sign, then drove into the intersection of Co. Rd. 19, where it collided with a pickup driven by Phillip J. Dennie, 62, Napoleon. ALS-1 transported Baus to FCHC, where he was treated and released. Road conditions: clear. Baus was cited for failure to stop for a stop sign.

•Tuesday, Feb. 17, 3:20 pm: A sport-utility vehicle, driven by Kyleigh Robinson Brown, 17, rural Archbold, was traveling west on Co. Rd. A when it went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, came back onto the roadway, went left of center, and overturned. Three passengers in the SUV were Kaleb-Charles Michael Holtsberry, 18, Mark Center; Garret Richard Frantom, 16, Montpelier; and Blakelyn Nichole Sheets, 16, Ney. No injuries.
