Crashes Reported



Several crashes were reported to the Archbold Police Department recently.

A semi truck pulling a trailer struck a parked car in the Circle K store lot about 9:18 am, Wednesday, May 31.

The car, owned by Robert Zimmerman, rural Defi- ance, was parked in a space near the front door of the store. As Javon Dontell Davis, 37, Redford, Mich., was driving the semi, owned by Eby-Brown Transportation, Plainfield, Ind., into the parking lot, its trailer struck the parked auto. No injuries.

A sport-utility vehicle, driven by Betsy Smith, 58, Archbold, was backing out of a driveway on the south side of East Williams Street, about 150 feet west of South Lincoln Street, when she struck a car parked on the south side of East Williams Street owned by Claire Fricke, Pettisville.

The mishap occurred at 10:16 pm, Monday, May 29. Smith was cited for improper starting and backing. No injuries.

A pickup, driven by Karen M. Tressler, 67, rural Montpelier, with passengers Kathryn Sabatino, 13, and Hannah Sabatino, 11, Montpelier, was backing out of a parking space at Sauder Village about 1:15 pm, Saturday, May 27, when she backed into a light pole. No injuries.

A two-vehicle collision occurred about 9:56 pm, Friday, May 26, on South Defi- ance Street, in front of Dairy Queen.

A pickup, driven by Jason Beck, 51, Archbold, with passenger Brandy Beck, 35, from the same Archbold address, was traveling north on South Defiance Street while a car, driven by Ethan Marlin Zaerr, 19, rural Archbold, was driving south, with passengers Mackenna Whitacre, 17, Rosalyn Flores, 17, and Caroline Kinsman, 18, all of Archbold.

The accident report states Zaerr attempted to make a left turn into Dairy Queen. They collided.

ALS-1, the Archbold based paramedic unit, and Archbold Rescue responded to the crash scene. None of the victims were transported. Zaerr was cited for violating rules for turning left at an intersection.

A crash occurred on Nolan Parkway about 98 feet west of South Defiance Street about 2:30 pm, Wednesday, May 17.

Kimberly S. Hensley, 55, Perrysburg, was driving a van owned by AAustin Express, Inc., Taylor, Mich., and was stopped, headed eastbound, in the left-turn lane of Nolan Parkway, waiting to turn onto South Defiance Street.

A car, driven by Kategerine E. Anderson, 24, Wauseon, was also traveling east on Nolan Parkway, and was stopped behind the van. Hensley backed the van, and they collided. Hensley was cited for improper backing.
