Crash Kills Woman

A one-car crash on the Ohio Turnpike, Thursday, Feb. 6, claimed the life of Bailey Weber, 28, Amery, Wis., Ohio State Highway Patrol officials announced in a press release.

The driver, 24-year-old Agustin Ferrer, New Richmond, Wis., was injured and taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. No information about Ferrer was available from St. Vs.

The press release said Ferrer was driving westbound when he went off the left, or south, side of the road and struck the end of a guardrail near the 36.4-mile marker east of Wauseon, in Pike Township.

The wreckage came to rest in the eastbound lanes of traffic.

Unresponsive

OSHP said when first responders arrived, Weber was unresponsive with no signs of life.

The press release stated, “illegal drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash.” The crash remains under investigation.

Information from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Internet website shows that the Feb. 6 crash is the first fatal accident in Fulton County in 2020.

In 2019, OSHP records show there were five fatalities. There were six in 2018, nine in 2017, and 10 in 2016.
