County Unemployment Down Almost One Point

Fulton County unemployment for May fell by nine-tenths (.9) of a percentage point, the largest drop in unemployment in the Four County area.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services estimated Fulton County unemployment in April was 7.5%. In May it was estimated at 6.6%.

Defiance and Henry counties saw unemployment fall a tenth (.1) of a point, while the Williams County unemployment rate went up a tenth. Defiance County had the lowest in the four county area in May, estimated at 5.8%.

The Fulton County labor force was made up of 23,300 persons, of which 21,800 were employed and 1,500 were unemployed. The number of unemployed persons in Fulton County is the highest in the four-county area.

None of Ohio’s 88 counties had unemployment of 10% or higher in May. The highest was 8.8% in Morgan County. The lowest was Delaware County.
