County To Rebuild County Road 21

The Fulton County Engineer Office is planning to rebuild about three miles of Co. Rd. 21, from St. Rt. 2 to Co. Rd. H

Haley Dockery, an engineer with the county engineer office, said last week bids for the project, which is estimated to cost $997,000, will be opened May 20.

Construction is to start early in June.

Completion is set for the end of August.

Money to pay for the project will come from county funds.

Dockery said the project starts with regrading of the roadside ditches and shoulders. The road surface will be widened from the present 18 feet to 20 feet, to allow for two 10-foot lanes.

Existing pavement will be ground or milled. The grindings will be mixed with new asphalt, then laid to form the new road surface.

During the project, home and property owners along the stretch of roadway will be able to get in and out.

“They may only have access from one direction,” she said.

The road was selected to be rebuilt because it has been in need of frequent repair.
