County Needs Help To Support United Way

Every person in Fulton County benefi ts from services provided by the 32 agencies of the Fulton County United Way.

Each year UW funds help to pay for multiple services to thousands of residents living in our county. That is just one of the many reasons UW must be supported by everyone.

The agencies in the 2008 UW are grouped into four categories: Nurturing Strong Communities, Helping Kids Succeed, Promoting Health and Well- Being, and Fostering Self-Sufficiency.

The 2008 goal is $320,000, down $20,000 from the 2007 goal of $340,000. Thousands of county residents receive services provided by UW agencies.

UW dollars are shared by the Red Cross of Fulton County, the Fine Arts Council, Hands of Grace, Boy and Girl Scouts, Fulton County Health Department, Pettisville School Foundation, Cancer Care Program, Hospice of Fulton/ Williams Counties, Lutheran Social Services, Alano Club, and Salvation Army.

Other UW agencies serving us are Wauseon FISH, Triangular Processing, Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Centennial Therapeutic Riding Center, “Pack” to school (a school supplies program), Shalom Ministries, Retired and Senior Volunteers, First Call for Help, and the Four County Family Center.

The 32 county agencies serve 42,000- plus residents of our county. Agencies receiving UW monies desperately need the financial aid.

Residents of the county need to know that local industries have played a huge part in what UW has accomplished. Thousands of dollars have been raised through industrial donations. Many county industries challenge employees through their own UW campaigns.

The Sauder industries of Archbold are among the best at challenging their employees to support the UW. Over the years contests, competitions, and fun events among Sauder employees have raised multi-thousands of dollars for UW.

This year the slogan for the county is “Live United.” It is an appropriate slogan because UW benefits all county residents.

This year the economy and job situation are more difficult than recent years. Everyone must continue to support the UW agencies by increasing contributions, if at all possible.

With everyone helping, UW dollars will continue to support families and friends, young and old.
