County Fair Attendance Tops 260,000, Fails To Set Records



The Fulton County Fair Board reported there were 260,315 admissions to the 2012 Fulton County Fair, up about 6.9%, or 16,760, from the seven-day total for 2011.

In 2011, there were 243,555 admissions.

The 2012 fair was Friday, Aug. 31, through Thursday, Sept. 6.

The 2012 total is down about 7.8% from the 2010 record for attendance, when 282,417 admissions were reported, a difference of 22,102.

No daily records were broken in 2012. The best day was Saturday, Sept. 1, when 59,985 people visited, just a few hundred shy of the Saturday attendance record of 60,731 set in 2009.

The only other day to top 50,000 was Sunday, Sept. 2, when 56,349 went through the gates, roughly 7,000 less than the 65,530 Sunday re- cord set in 2008.

The Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3, crowd of 46,769 was well off the Monday, and one-day, record of 73,105 set on Labor Day 2011.

The lowest 2012 attendance day was Wednesday, Sept. 5, when 16,294 attended, an improvement by a factor of three over the 2011 Wednesday total of 4,983. The 2011 Wednesday attendance figure is the lowest attendance on any single day since 1998.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, 26,184 visited. The Tuesday record was also set in 2011, at 29,421.

The Thursday, Sept. 6 attendance was 29,071, the best Thursday attendance since 2003, when 31,794 went through the gate.

On Friday, Aug. 31, fair attendance was 25,663, the best figure since the Friday 2007 record of 26,821.
