Reports on file with Archbold police indicate a counterfeit $100 bill was discovered and an attempted fraud case has been reported.
A representative of the Archbold One Stop convenience store told police on Friday, Feb. 15, the counterfeit bill was used to pay for a pack of cigarettes the previous day. The subject who passed the bill was given the cigarettes, valued at $11.96, and $88.04 in change.
Police are investigating.
David Augustine, 66, Archbold, alerted police to an incident of attempted telecommunications fraud that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 23.
Police advised Augustine to change his email passwords and have his computer inspected for malicious viruses.
In his report, the officer said he also advised Augustine never to open any electronic communication in which he does not know the sender.
