Archbold Village Council approved buying a new Ford pickup truck for the water department at the Monday night, March 2, meeting.
Three of Archbold’s four auto dealers tendered bids to sell the village a truck.
Rich Ford-Lincoln-Mercury was the low bidder: $24,207.
Terry Henricks Chrysler- Dodge-Jeep bid $27,344.68, which was $3,137.68, or about 13%, higher than the Ford.
Christy Motor Sales was the high bidder: $27,753, which was $3,546, or about 14.7%, higher than the winning bid. The Christy bid was $408.32, or about 1.5%, more than the Dodge truck.
Dennis Howell, Archbold village administrator, said the new vehicle will replace an 11- year-old truck that has developed rust problems.
