Council Okays New Police Car





Rich Ford Lincoln Mercury, Archbold, was the lowest quote for a new police patrol car for the Village of Archbold.

Council approved the purchase of a Ford Crown Victoria patrol car at the Monday night, Nov. 19 meeting.

The Ford dealership offered to sell the car to the village for $22,625.

Terry Henricks Chrysler- Dodge-Jeep, Archbold, submitted quotes for two models, a Dodge Charger, priced at $23,471, and a Dodge Magnum, a station wagon-like vehicle, for $24,354.

The Charger bid was 3.74%, or $846, above the Ford bid. The bid for the Magnum was $1,729, or 7.64%, higher than the Ford.

Under the village charter, the vehicle can make purchases up to $50,000 without going through a formal bidding procedure, requiring bidders to submit bid bonds, and comply with other regulations. The prices are submitted to village officials as, “informal quotes.”

Delivery of the new vehicle is expected in 60 to 90 days.

The police department is replacing one of its vehicles. The ex-police vehicle will be transferred to the village’s engineering department. Recently, the engineering department disposed of two of its older vehicles through the Fulton County auction.
