Council Holds Exec Session Monday

Archbold Village Council met in executive session during its Monday night, July 21, meeting.

Stated reason for the closeddoor session was the discussion of real estate matters. Councilmen took no action when they returned from executive session.

In open session, council changed two village ordinances.

One, which was originally passed in 1981, required the village to pay for three-fifths of the cost of installing curbs and gutters in a new subdivision. That ordinance was rescinded entirely.

The second modified the fee the village charges for installing a separate water meter for home lawn irrigation systems, commonly called sprinkler systems.

By adding a separate meter for sprinklers, home owners do not have pay a sewage charge for water used for lawns.

Dennis Howell, Archbold village administrator, said Rick Schantz, water treatment plant superintendent, said a $250 charge for the sprinkler system meter was established years ago.

Since then, the price of water meters has doubled.

Councilmen approved resetting the charge to $325.
