Archbold Village Council agreed to purchase two vehicles at its Monday, Feb. 20 meeting.
Council agreed to purchase a 2012 Dodge Charger police car for $21,807.
Dennis Howell, village administrator, said the car will come from a dealership in Xenia, but will be purchased through Terry Henricks Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram.
Howell said the police department has a cruiser in its fleet that was “nickel and diming us pretty good,” so the decision was made to purchase a new one.
The Henricks price was $536, or 2.52%, more than the state program purchase price of $21,271, but Howell said the car will be delivered and serviced locally.
The second vehicle purchased was a 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck for the village water department.
The truck will replace a 1997 Ford with over 100,000 miles on the odometer.
Three local dealership offered pickups. The winning bid was from Christy Motors, offering the Chevrolet for $17,794.
Archbold Sales & Service offered a Ford for $17,887, $93 more than the Chevrolet.
Terry Henricks offered a Dodge pickup for $18,315, which was $521 above the winning bid.
