When an Archbold High School student found himself in a desperate situation after the death of a family member, people in the school district and the community raised $4,000 in less than 72 hours.
Tim Meister, AHS principal, told members of Archbold Area School Board about the outpouring of generosity at the board meeting, Monday, Feb. 15.
Meister was hesitant to give details, but said the youth was placed “in a tough situation no 17- or 18-yearold should have to face.
“In less than 72 hours, we had $4,000 cash in hand,” he said.
In addition, a local attorney was doing legal work for the boy at no charge.
Meister said, “When we sit around and talk about what makes Archbold, Archbold, we come up with any number of things. Two things we can add to that list are, one, we support each other, and two, we always, always take care of our own.”
