Logan Wyse, AHS ’06, was voted Most Improved Player after his first year on the men’s tennis team at the University of Northwestern Ohio, Lima.

The son of Pat and Carleen, Archbold, Wyse was 5-1 in his first season.

“Logan’s development through the year could be readily seen at the end of his first year and the university’s first year with collegiate sports,” said Terry Hilborn, coach.

“He won two matches at the end of the year against opponents that appeared to be more polished than Logan.

“He also avenged a straight set loss to an opponent from early on in the season by beating this player in the last match of the season.

“Logan refined his game, including the development of his service game, to the point we were able to provide strategies to him and he would go out and execute them. His understanding of the game then developed to the point he was identifying the strategies and executing them before any coaching was needed.

“Logan’s mental game is one of his strengths. He is very ag- gressive on the court, yet he is very composed and he does not get rattled in a tight match.

“His aggressiveness and composure was also noted in his debut racing experience at the Limaland MotorSports Park as his fellow teammates and coaches had gone to watch him race the night before our last scheduled match of the season, where he finished second in his first ever-heat run.”

“I am excited for the upcoming season as we return every player from this year’s team. Logan is extremely coachable and I look forward to working with him to see what new heights he can reach.
