George Fox (Ore.) University finished eighth at the Northwest Conference Mens Golf Spring Classic, Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30 at Pacific (Ore.) University.

The Bruins finished with a team score of 705. Pacific University won with a 592.

Ben Ulrich, a 2004 Archbold High School graduate, shot rounds of 95 and 96 for GFU. He is the son of Thomas and Rachel Ulrich.

Dan Borcherdt, 2005 AHS graduate and son of Bob and Judy Borcherdt, led the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s basketball team with a career-high 129 assists and only 57 turnovers this season.

He averaged 11.0 points per game and shot 87.5% from the free-throw line, nailed a careerbest 74 three-pointers, and was second on the team with 37 steals.

The AHS grad was an American Mideast Conference South Division honorable mention selection.

The Cougars finished the season with a 23-8 record. They advanced to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II national tournament for the third straight year and the seventh time in program history.

It marked the 11th time in the past 12 seasons that the team topped the 20-win mark.

The Cougars finished 9-5 in the AMC South Division.
