Angel Huerta, AHS ‘15 and daughter of Joe and Valentina, placed second in the annual Bluffton University C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest.
A general studies major, her speech, “The Epidemic of Domestic Violence,” outlined the startling statistics surrounding domestic violence and offered solutions that promote a change in societal attitudes toward domestic violence.
Carley Wyse, AHS’ 12 and a senior at Goshen (Ind.) College, received first and second place for corporate video, television non-news program, from the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters (IASB).
She was among 19 GC students and recent graduates who earned individual awards in 16 categories, including seven first-place honors.
She is the daughter of Mike and Julia.
