Hailey Galvan, AHS ‘10, daughter of Roel and Dana, was named the Defensive Player of the Year on the women’s basketball team at Owens Community College, Toledo.

It is Galvan’s second consecutive Defensive Player of the Year award.

She blocked 132 shots this season and broke the singleseason record, and finished with 234 career blocks.

The Express finished 25- 6, and second in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference with a 10-2 record. They advanced to the Region XII semifinals before falling to Sinclair Community College.

It was the program’s third straight season with at least 25 wins, a first in program history.

A seventh-inning homer by Alyssa Schaub in the season opener helped lead the visiting University of Detroit Mercy (Mich.) Titans to a doubleheader softball split at The University of Dayton, Tuesday, March 20.

Schaub’s home run broke a 3-3 tie in the final inning for the Titans’ third straight win.

Schaub, AHS ‘11, went 2- 3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and two runs batted in. She is batting .305 for the season.

She is the daughter of David and Denise.
