Hailey Galvan, AHS ‘10, produced a triple-double and set a national record in leading the Owens Community College women’s basketball team to a 98-28 victory over Mid Michigan Community College, Saturday, Nov. 12, in the opener of the Owens Tip Off Classic.
Galvan, daughter of Roel and Dana, had 12 points, 10 rebounds, 12 blocks, one assist, and one steal. She finished six for 12 from the field.
Her 12 blocks breaks the school and National Junior College Athletic Association Division II records for most blocks in one game.
She had 11 in a game last year against Cincinnati State.
Galvan had four points, seven rebounds, and four blocks as the Express lost to Div. I Hillsborough (Fla) Community College 79-75, in the championship game.
So far this season, the sophomore center has 31 blocks.
Earlier in the week, the Express defeated Henry Ford Community College 81-58, Wednesday, Nov. 9. Galvan had five points, 14 rebounds, and nine blocks.
OCC (3-1) is ranked 12th in the NJCAA Div. II poll.
