Co. Rd. 24 Project Out For Bids Soon

Grow The German Township Trustees will seek bids for the repaving of Co. Rd. 24 within the next three weeks, said Keith Short, township fiscal officer.

That was part of the discussion at the Monday night, May 12, German Township Trustee meeting, Short said.

The project calls for the resurfacing of the roadway from Co. Rd. E to US20A, with a twoinch layer of asphalt to be laid over the existing road surface.

Estimated cost of the project is $300,000, but German Township will receive a $150,000 grant through the Ohio Public Works Commission.

To meet OPWC guidelines, work cannot start on the project prior to July 8. Short said the completion date is Aug. 29.

Grow Your seams, freezing, and damaging the pavement. The one-pass process will cause more road closures, but is not expected to create serious problems, he said.

The trustees discussed advertising for bids for other road maintenance work, such as patching, chipping, and sealing.

Another issue discussed was drainage problems on Co. Rd. 26 in the Goll Woods Nature Preserve.

Short said the trustees met with an Ohio Department of Natural Resources official. The trustees asked for ODNR assistance in addressing draining problems.

“The township is not allowed go in there (the woods) with their equipment,” he said.
